The honest pitch
What this actually does to your 718 Cayman GT4 / GT4 RS
The GT4 RS is one of the loudest road cars Porsche has ever sold — and the GT4 isn't far behind — but in Normal mode the valves still spend a lot of their time muted.
This module locks the flaps open whenever you press the fob. The intake roar is unchanged; the exhaust simply stops being polite.

The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 / GT4 RS valve story
The 982 GT4 and GT4 RS are two of the loudest road cars Porsche has ever sold. The RS in particular — with that 9,000-RPM flat-six and the side intakes drinking next to your ears — is full theatre at full song. In Normal mode at part throttle, the valves still cycle shut.
Open Valve pins both rear flaps open. The flat-six then sings at every RPM in every mode — Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and (on the RS) Track. The intake roar from inside the cabin doesn't change (that's intake-induced and unrelated). What changes is the exhaust bark from the back of the car.
Install is more delicate than the 911 RS because of the engine cover trim. Workshop fitment recommended. About 45 minutes for a Porsche-experienced tech.
Install — step by step
- 01
Workshop fitment recommended.
- 02
Remove the rear engine cover trim per Porsche WSM.
- 03
Locate both rear valve actuator motors.
- 04
Disconnect each 2-pin connector, plug each module inline.
- 05
Mount module bodies to chassis rail with heat-rated brackets.
- 06
Refit trim per WSM torque specs.
- 07
Pair fob, test on idle.
In the box
- Two valve override modules (one per actuator)
- Two-button RF key fob (CR2032 pre-installed, spare in the box)
- OEM-pattern connectors — no cutting, no splicing, no scotch-locks
- Printed install card with model-specific photos and a workshop QR link

Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 / GT4 RS — FAQ
Does it work on both GT4 and GT4 RS?+
Yes — both share actuator hardware. Same kit.
What about PSE?+
PSE-equipped cars supported — same kit, same install.
Will it throw a warning light on the dash?+
No. The module sits in the signal path between the ECU and the actuator motor. The ECU sees a normal actuator response back, so there's nothing to flag. We've shipped thousands of these and not had a single check-engine call linked to the module itself.
Is it reversible?+
Yes, fully. Unplug the module, plug the OEM connectors back into each other, refit the trim — about three minutes' work. There's no permanent change to the car, no part cut, nothing in the ECU. Dealer service visits, MOT, sale to a new owner — pull it out and it's like it was never fitted.
Does it work with an aftermarket exhaust?+
If the aftermarket back-box retains the OEM-pattern valve actuators (most do — Akrapovic, Milltek, IPE, Capristo all run the factory motors), yes. If the system is a straight-through with no valves, there's nothing for the module to override.
Will it affect PASM or PDK logic?+
No. Suspension and gearbox systems read independent sensors.
Is there any change to fuel consumption?+
Negligible. Back-pressure changes are marginal. Real-world fuel economy is unchanged.
