The honest pitch
What this actually does to your C63 / C63 S
The W205 C63 S was one of the loudest factory saloons of the decade — until a mid-cycle ECU update quietened the valve behaviour considerably.
Open Valve restores the early-spec attitude: thunder at idle, hammer at full throttle, snap-crackle on the overrun. Nothing physical changes on the car.

The Mercedes-AMG C63 / C63 S valve story
The W205 C63 S launched in 2014 as one of the loudest factory saloons of the decade. A mid-cycle ECU update around 2018 considerably quietened the valve behaviour — owners with early and late cars notice the difference back-to-back immediately. The valve map was the change; the exhaust hardware was unchanged.
Open Valve restores the early-spec valve behaviour. The 4.0 biturbo M177 V8 then runs at the full launch-spec volume — thunder at idle, hammer at full throttle, snap-crackle on every overrun. W205 saloon, S205 estate, C205 coupé — same hardware, same kit.
Two-module install via the boot floor or estate underbody depending on bodystyle. Around twenty minutes.
Install — step by step
- 01
Saloon/coupé: boot floor up, locate both connectors.
- 02
Estate: rear underbody panel down, locate both actuator motors.
- 03
Disconnect each 2-pin connector, plug each module inline.
- 04
Velcro module bodies (saloon) or bracket-mount (estate, due to heat).
- 05
Refit trim.
- 06
Pair fob, test.
In the box

Mercedes-AMG C63 / C63 S — FAQ
Does it work on all C63 S body styles?+
Yes — W205 saloon, S205 estate, C205 coupé, A205 cabriolet all share actuator hardware.
What about the non-S C63?+
Yes — both C63 and C63 S use the same M177 V8 and same actuator hardware. Same kit.
Will it throw a warning light on the dash?+
No. The module sits in the signal path between the ECU and the actuator motor. The ECU sees a normal actuator response back, so there's nothing to flag. We've shipped thousands of these and not had a single check-engine call linked to the module itself.
Is it reversible?+
Yes, fully. Unplug the module, plug the OEM connectors back into each other, refit the trim — about three minutes' work. There's no permanent change to the car, no part cut, nothing in the ECU. Dealer service visits, MOT, sale to a new owner — pull it out and it's like it was never fitted.
Does it work with an aftermarket exhaust?+
If the aftermarket back-box retains the OEM-pattern valve actuators (most do — Akrapovic, Milltek, IPE, Capristo all run the factory motors), yes. If the system is a straight-through with no valves, there's nothing for the module to override.
Does it affect AMG dynamic mounts?+
No — engine mount logic is independent.
Will Mercedes Star diagnostics see anything?+
No — module is invisible.
