The honest pitch
What this actually does to your TT RS
The 2.5 TFSI in the 8S TT RS is one of the all-time great Audi engines. The exhaust note from the factory is already very good — and the valve map is still tighter than it needs to be.
This pins the flaps open whenever you want the warble. End of story.

Long read
The Audi TT RS valve story
The 8S TT RS runs the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder — same engine family as the RS3 — and is widely held to be one of the great-sounding Audi engines of the last fifteen years. The factory exhaust note is already very good. The valve map is still tighter than it needs to be, especially in Comfort mode where the flap stays shut almost permanently.
Open Valve pins the rear flap open. The five-pot warble — that 1-2-4-5-3 firing order — is then present at every RPM in every mode. Decel chatter on overrun above 4,000 is the headline change.
Single actuator, single module. Install via the boot floor on Coupé; Roadster cars require a small extra step due to the soft-top mechanism.
Install — step by step
- 01
Coupé: boot floor up, locate connector behind spare wheel, plug module inline.
- 02
Roadster: rear-bumper-side access via wheel-arch liner.
- 03
Velcro module body to chassis rail.
- 04
Refit trim.
- 05
Pair fob, test.

Audi TT RS — FAQ
Does it work on Coupé and Roadster?+
Yes — both body styles share the same actuator. Install location differs slightly.
What about Akrapovic Sport Performance Exhaust option?+
Yes — Akrapovic systems on the 8S retain the OEM actuator. Same kit.
Will it throw a warning light on the dash?+
No. The module sits in the signal path between the ECU and the actuator motor. The ECU sees a normal actuator response back, so there's nothing to flag. We've shipped thousands of these and not had a single check-engine call linked to the module itself.
Is it reversible?+
Yes, fully. Unplug the module, plug the OEM connectors back into each other, refit the trim — about three minutes' work. There's no permanent change to the car, no part cut, nothing in the ECU. Dealer service visits, MOT, sale to a new owner — pull it out and it's like it was never fitted.
Does it work with an aftermarket exhaust?+
If the aftermarket back-box retains the OEM-pattern valve actuators (most do — Akrapovic, Milltek, IPE, Capristo all run the factory motors), yes. If the system is a straight-through with no valves, there's nothing for the module to override.
Will it interfere with the quattro magnetic-ride suspension?+
No. Magnetic ride reads its own dampers. Unaffected.
Does cold start change?+
No — cat warm-up cycles and cold-start fuelling are managed by the engine ECU. The valve just sits open during cold start instead of cycling. Emissions warm-up is unaffected.
